NBA Basketball Betting: New York Knicks at Charlotte Hornets

Added January 23, 2015 by Levi Watkins

Eastern Conference NBA action on Saturday night as the bottom feeding New York Knicks head to the ‘Queen City’ to take on the Charlotte Hornets nee the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats are in a battle with the Brooklyn Nets for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and have been in good form lately winning 8 of their last 11 games. The New York Knicks have forgotten what the term ‘good form’ means. They’re the worst team in the NBA though they have won two straight against New Orleans and Philadelphia since the end of their 14 game losing streak. Nothing needs to be added to 7-36 SU on the season. They’re just an awful team.

The Hornets should be in a most unpleasant mood after being blown out at Cleveland last night. The Hornets have been improving on the defensive end and are up to a sixth place tie in the ‘points against’ standings. They’ve had little trouble against the Knicks in head to head play going 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings. Then again, who *has* had trouble with the Knicks? Charlotte has also taken care of business against the Atlantic Division (but with the exception of Toronto who has a credible team it’s a pitiful division) with an 8-2 ATS record.

The Knicks are a joke. Some basketball pundits have suggested that the team’s two game winning streak is the start of a ‘turnaround’. These ‘pundits’ should have their NBA press credentials stripped from them. New York has a serviceable 10-10 ATS record away from Madison Square Garden despite a 3-19 SU road record but that’s not much of a ‘silver lining’. They’re 2-8 ATS against Atlantic Division opponents, 1-3 ATS as a road dog of 6′ to 9 points and 13-23 overall as an underdog. Most embarrassing is their 4-14 SU/5-13 ATS record against opponents with losing records. This gutless bunch won’t show up for games against other losing teams and instead has become a punching bag.

Charlotte coming off a humiliating loss facing a Knicks team that feels much better about themselves than they should after back to back wins. This should be a bloodletting with the Hornets winning big.
