NHL Hockey Betting: Chicago Blackhawks at Anaheim Ducks

Added May 29, 2015 by Levi Watkins

The Tampa Bay Lightning won the first of the Conference Final Game Seven’s on Friday night. They’ll play the winner of Saturday’s Western Conference Game Seven between the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks to be played at the Honda Center. The Blackhawks played their best game of the series in Game Six to win 5-2 on home ice and force this decisive game in Southern California. The Stanley Cup Finals will start on Wednesday, June 3. If the Ducks win they’ll host Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals, if Chicago wins they’ll play on the road at Tampa Bay to open the finals.

This game is a very similar handicap to Friday’s game between the Rangers and Lightning. Simply put, it’s a dead even matchup. Both teams are capable of winning regardless of the type or tempo of game. The Ducks have won 8 of the last 15 head to head but the Blackhawks have won four of the last seven meetings on the road. Neither team has done much to distinguish themselves in Game 7’s recently–Anaheim has gone 0-3 in their last three deciding game spots including 0-2 at home. All time they’re 2-4 in Game 7 with the last win coming way back when they were the ‘Mighty Ducks’. The Blackhawks are 6-6 in Game 7 appearances including 1-3 on the road.

One thing we do like about this vintage of the Blackhawks is their deep, talented forward corps and their playoff experience. Their defense is a little thin this year but their top four players are solid. At any rate, I don’t expect fatigue among the Hawks’ blueliners to determine the outcome of this series one way or another. The Blackhawks looked scary good in Game Six as they used their impressive skill and speed to completely mystify the more physical Ducks. Physical play is all well and good but once the more talented team ‘figures out’ their opponent it’s not as effective. That may be what is happening here. At any rate, we’ll take the price with the Blackhawks. That’s the value side in an evenly matched game plus there’s a good chance that they’ve got the Ducks ‘number’ now.
